After coming up with the thesis that Muhammed did not existed and that the Quran is not god’s given word, Professor Kalisch lost his professorship and fears for his life. Kalisch is now considered by some Muslims to be an apostate, which is in the Muslim faith a perpetration to be punished with death.
According to the magazine “Focus”, Kalisch wants to publish his controversial theses in a book due to the next year. Kalisch denies the existence of the Prophet Muhammad and pleads for a scientific debate based on historical and critical analysis. He symphatizes with the theory of the “Saarbrücker School” which states that the Quran is basically a Christian text.
Kalisch lost his Professorship at the University of Munster after serveral disputes with the “German Council of Muslim Coordination”. In this particular controversy, the Counsil blames Kalisch for drifting away from the fundamentals of the Islamic faith.
According to the magazine “Spiegel”, 30 prominent Muslims, scientists and publicists are showing solidarity with Kalisch.
